Ele evolui para Grovyle no nível 16 e para Sceptile no nível 36.

Junto com Mudkip e Torchic ele é um dos iniciais do continente de Hoenn, consequentemente um dos três iniciais que os jogadores podem escolher no Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald.
